Video transcript:
In baseball, there’s countless, countless things to try to pull our attention away from our intent. But our intent requires us to be in the present moment. Well that following through with our intent requires us to focus on the present moment, right?
We talked a few weeks ago about trusting mode and how peak performance happens in trusting mode right? In order to be in trusting mode we got to be focused on the present moment. Now this, it can be really hard to do for the entirety of the game right? No one would expect you to be totally focused, in the present moment, for the entirety of your baseball games cause that’s basically impossible. But baseball does require us to come back to the present moment really really quickly, like that. So it’s more of a practice to see how many times can you come back to the present moment. Nobody’s ever been focused for the entirety of a game.
So my challenge today for you guys is in your training we’re going to practice coming back to the present moment. There’s gonna be times where you lose focus on your intent and on the present moment. But when you notice that, my challenge for you is to bring yourself back home. Not judgmentally, so we’re not going to get upset when we notice our focus is off. But, we’re just gonna, you know, take a step out, take a breath and get back in.
